Can You Order Cannabis Online in Edmonton?

Can You Order Cannabis Online in Edmonton?

Thanks to the revolutionary Cannabis Act, 2018, acquiring and consuming cannabis has become more accessible in Canada, and more importantly, legal. You can now smoke or consume marijuana legally! There are two ways of buying cannabis in and around Edmonton, you can either shop from retail stores, or you can order online. However, ordering online offers many benefits over retail shopping like:

Ease of Access

One major issue that many face is that the retail shops are too far and too few in Edmonton, most located near the downtown area like Jasper and Whyte ave. This is a significant problem if you live on the outskirts of Edmonton. To avoid the hassle of travelling, you can just order cannabis online with ease. Once you place the order, the product will arrive at your doorstep in a few days.

Broad Variety of Products

You get to choose from a wide variety of products that you would otherwise not find in any retail stores since they tend to run out of stock quickly due to the high demand. Online, you can choose anything from buds and dried flowers to concentrates and oils, and even edibles and vapes. Whatever suits your needs and style, you will find it online.

Discretion and Privacy

Many localities look down upon marijuana consumers for no good reason. To avoid any issue with others, or just to keep your consumption private, you can order marijuana online. Most packages are shipped in airtight packets without any labels on the packaging itself. This can help keep your order discreet and private.

Things to Keep in Mind

However, while ordering online, there are certain things that you need to keep in mind. Starting with, you must be of legal age to order cannabis online. For the province of Alberta, this age is 18. Hence, if you are 18 or older, you can safely and legally order any cannabis product online. Another thing to keep in mind is that you can, at a time, only order a maximum of 30 grams of dried cannabis, or equivalent, online.

As for legality, you must only order from a licensed store. Make sure that the site you are ordering from has the Federal Cannabis Sales License. If you can’t find the information on their website, then you can check the Health Canada’s list of licensed cultivators, processors and sellers. Additionally, the product must also include a Special Federal Excise Tax stamp on it that denotes it is a legal cannabis product. Overlooking these things can get you in trouble with the law, where you may be punished with hefty fines.

For now, online ordering of cannabis is only available at albertacannabis.org, which is operated by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC). No other online sales or delivery is permitted other than this website. This is due to various concerns raised by the citizens of Alberta regarding the need for strict control over age verification at the time of sale and delivery.
